1.History of Minshyuku MARUSHICHI   
The fourth generation of the Oya house (present Toshu Ito Toshiharu) which will be on 
three houses from the present house for right virtue four years (1714) when the history of 
Minshyuku MARUSHICHI is gone back Ito Chozaburo's second son Ito migi serve as 
the founder and are equivalent to the Yatsushiro eye in me. The meantime, each 
generation 287 years of history is minced as family line which inherits the name of 
Shichiemon. 

2.Main building    
The present main building will be the sixth generation in Taisho 9 (1919). It is built by Takiji 
and the seventh generation 7 right E gate. The building before it was located on the north 
side (1st street of 4227) of the present main building, and the site of the present main 
building was a field. Since this neighborhood is a swamp where the subsoil water of 
Higashiyama gushes, it has above-ground structure which raised the height of a floor 88. 
The first floor is 80 tsubos and the building as 56 tsubos and a farmhouse where the second 
floor is comparatively big. Since my home was a sericulture farmhouse, it serves as the 
total second floor structure uniquely as a house with a sunken hearth. Since most of the 
second floor serve as a silkworm-raising room and there was nothing at the object for 
habitation, the ceiling board of the first floor is the structure of the floor of the second floor 
as it is. While carrying out ground processing of the outer wall which was full [ the Takuboku 
bird (woodpecker) ] of holes by RASUMORUTARU in Heisei 11 (1999) and having reapplied 
with mortar although most of repair or paint of an outer wall was not carried out since it 
was built, the boarded portion was repaired and Kibe painted by Steen of the quiet color 
who united with old woods. 

3.Building materials    
It is heard that my home has building materials altogether and they are supplied from a 
mountain except for two pillars of the zelkova located at the center of a house. The Totani 
stone in the village Iimori area said not to raise the humidity of the ground to a foundation 
is used for basic preliminary moves. Although [ much-treasured ] "it was said don't carry 
out this Totani stone out of the land ownership of Iimori" then, it does not yet understand 
whether it is what came to hand with what means. A foundation uses the tree of the 
chestnut said to be the hardest to rot. The zelkova is used for agarikamachi and one 
genuine article of the zelkova said to be easy to be out of order is finished in high accuracy. 
Thick Thurs. by which neither a pillar nor a beam now also goes into a hand at all is literally 
used for putting the right man in the right place. 

4.Sunken hearth    
The sunken hearth (JIRO) which is continuing burning fire is what brought the thing of an old 
family as it was, and has also given many people warmth for 200 years or more now. 
Although the thick tree with many paragraphs (TOKKO) is made to smolder by the sunken 
hearth so that fire may not be wiped out while having come out to the field a long time ago, 
since the edge burned at the end of north, there is a portion added in part. Round stone is 
well put on the corner of a sunken hearth as a charm so that a child may not fall to a 
sunken hearth. Although the ceiling board has not stretched the western stairs upper part 
and it has become a well, the smoke of a sunken hearth reaches these stairs and it escapes 
from it to an attic. However, when it was smoky on the occasion of rise and fall of stairs 
and the weather was bad, since the omission of smoke was bad, the ceiling of the upper part 
of a sunken hearth was extracted in Heisei 2, the chimney was installed, and the omission of 
smoke was improved. It is said that a thatch roof lasts long by making it smolder by the 
sunken hearth, and that the thatch roof is being maintained can say it also as the favor 
which is continuing burning a sunken hearth. It is [ big ] reasonable in even now my 
continuing adhering to a sunken hearth. The army was joined by the last draft at the age of 
18, and the end of the war was greeted in Kanagawa Kokufu Tsu-shi (Odawara-shi) on July 
20, Showa 20. Although it was war experience for only 42 days, when it went home around 
11:00 of 1 day and night in September and the door of the door was opened, the mother 
and grandparents who were present in the sunken hearth end ran out and greeted. Even 
now, warmth of red at that time and the fire of the sunken hearth which burned is not 
forgotten. People's heart is relieved at the fire of a sunken hearth, and there is a wonderful 
charm to soften in it. If the smoke which stands and rises is seen, nature and the heart will 
settle down and I will carry out [ mind so that it may return to the child's heart ] to the fire 
of a sunken hearth. I want to leave forever a sunken hearth with such a wonderful charm 
which can regain the important thing which he is leaving in the present time.
